Come walk with us! This April, visit us at the Fuorisalone in Milan, and let us take you to the woodlands of Bohemian Křivoklát. Oh yes, we‘ll take a walk on the wild side.
Zona Tortona Milan vs. Křivoklát
At Egoé, we believe in being outdoors as much as possible, and we would like to convince others of the same. Although we’ve been designing and manufacturing durable outdoor furniture for over a decade, we still like to explore new ways of communicating our passion for outdoor life.
In 2018, we came up with a project called Vistas. Our designer, Dan, started carrying pieces of furniture to different locations in nature, and leaving them there so that people can freely use or test them, send us selfies and help us inspire others to do the same. The vista he‘s going to reach in April will become your vista from Milan.
Good views are like sunshine – they never get old. But they can get better. That’s why we decided to pick a few of our favorite spots, and furnish them with some of our favorite pieces of outdoor furniture. I mean, if you've got a good spot, why not make it better, right?
We've had a little help from our friends, Dan Golík and Míša Homolova, a couple of outdoor enthusiasts. Míša is our photographer and textile designer, and Dan is our furniture designer, but both are both expert "viewfinders." Dan, inspired by the porters of the High Tatras (the "Sherpas" of Europe), handmade an ash-wood furniture set that can be backpacked up to those hard-to-reach nature spots. Check it out in the photos below.
So far, they've visited 10 sweet spots in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and there's still more to come – for example, as part of our project, Here and There. This year, Egoé is participating in Milan Design Week, and we won't leave until we find the best spot there! And here, we will be combining the interior of our exhibition space with an outdoor view of Křivoklát Castle.
Milan's Zona Tortona vs. Křivoklát
Using a live video stream, we hope to share with the visitors of Milan Design Week all the joy and emotions of our lookouts here. To that end, we are having our friend, artist and musicianMilan Cais, design a special installation for the Křivoklát lookout point using our furniture. What better way to combine interior and exterior, indoors and outdoors, art and nature?! We can't wait to see the results!
